Two Types of Conservatism
Filed: June 12th 2007: News

The term, conservatism, brings to my mind the principles of the founding fathers of the republic which embrace individual liberty, rights to labor and property, and a government chained by the original intent of the constitution. Tainting the term is another type of “conservatism” in the main stream which holds highest the will of the executive branch and all elements of the federal government sold to corporate influence and lust for power.

I have heard this false conservatism also called monarchial conservatism from old Europe. It is allegiance to the king, noble principles aside. In our case it is allegiance to the establishment led by the puppet masters of the executive, established in righteousness by the media. It is now righteous to love perpetual war and those who do not are not only labeled as irrational liberals but implied to be traitors. This is not conservatism.

In the political spectrum, I consider statism to be left. It does not matter what kind of centralized dominance, but cost, erosion of individual liberty, and hope for peace both within and outside our borders. By this standard, main stream Republican conservatism is to the left of liberalism. Why? Because it costs more, is more dangerous to our lives and liberty, and is one of worst forms of centralized power - using the power of the state to make war, in this case, to dominate resources.

Since when are greed and appetite for dominance noble qualities warranting support at the voting both? In large part we are a people duped by the media. Republicans, whatever term you use, do not call yourselves conservative.
